What are your tips for finding a good oncologist?
Share your tips with fellow community members looking for an oncologist! If you haven’t found a good one, what challenges have you faced?
from my experience, the best thing to do is ask people you know about oncologists you may be considering. I asked friends who were already seeing a few local oncologists. I also asked a few friends who were nurses about them. It still took me four tries to get the oncologist who was best for me. I personally recommend a woman and for me, I wanted and needed a woman of color. that won't be true for everyone. I don't necessarily think all men are best for gynecology. My initial oncologist was very good and diagnosed me when others missed it, but he was so rough in how he handled me physically and could be very short at times. It was not good for me mentally and emotionally.
