Thanks for checking in. I did have surgery and chemo when diagnosed in 2017. I did well with no extraordinary difficulty. I remained NED with no maintenance therapy until 2020 when a tiny nodule by my colon was found on CT. A laparoscopy could not access the nodule well enough to remove it, but a biopsy confirmed cancer. An abbreviated course of chemo was planned and was very effective until I had a severe life- threatening carbo reaction. At that point , my surgeon opened me up to remove what remained of the nodule. No other cancer was found. PARP Inhibitors are not very effective for my subtype of OC so given risk/ benefit, I chose no maintenence therapy. In 2022 I had robotic surgery for an incisional hernia that resulted from previous surgeries. I am coming up on 5 years NED since surgery for my recurrance.I'm hoping my routine CT in a few weeks continues to be ok. Other than some mild toe and finger peripheral neuropathy that is just my new normal, I have no residual issues from treatment. I consider myself very fortunate and am doing quite well with my 75th birthday coming up in October. I attribute my generally good health to an OC subtype with a better prognosis than most, early diagnosis and maintaining the healthful practice of a Whole Food Plant- Based diet( not always perfectly. ) that is anti- inflammatory, full of antioxidants and micronutrients and immune supporting.
Wishing all my Teal sisters well.
