What Were Your Telling Symptoms?

Symptoms for ovarian cancer can be sometimes confused with symptoms for a menstrual cycle or other health conditions. What symptoms clued you in that something was really wrong.

  1. At the age of 58, I started having bloating and losing weight although already underweight. I went to my gynecologist and he said to see my gastroenterologist. My primary said I had lupus. The rheumatologist said I didn’t but had osteoporosis. The PA at my gastroenterologist said there wasn’t a problem but if it would satisfy me she would order an upper GI. It showed a little gastritis. 7 years ago I coded on the table from gangrene intestinal blockage. When I finally saw my actual gastroenterologist he ordered a Cat scan which revealed after a biopsy OC in my liver

    1. , that's truly harrowing, and I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. How are you doing now? S- Warmly, Donna (team member)

  2. I hear your tale. I know the road you travel. It is long. It is personal. Sometimes embarrassing. But just keep trudging along. Do not stop. Share your experiences, all of the experiences. The good, the bad, the funny. YOU are not alone and your experiences ensure that there are others who will realize that they are not alone, or weird or strange themselves and that there are others on the road. Some are ahead and some are behind and all are together.

    1. , thank you for sharing this message. This is a blessing for someone today. - Warmly, Donna (team member)

  3. I had bleeding after menopause but without insurance I had to wait until I was on medicare and then find a doctor in my area that would accept me at age 65 as a new patient. It took months to have an appointment. I am now on chemo for stage three Endometrial and Uterine cancers.

    1. Thank you for sharing your story with the community and contributing to such an important conversation. How are you doing today? Sending positive thoughts your way.

  4. I knew something was going on. Extreme swelling in my lower extremities, bloating, constipation, fatigue, feeling full. Vaginal bleeding. I thought it all had to do with menopause. Was rushed to RR by ambulance for extreme abdominal pain. That's when my tumor was found
