Stage 4 Primary Peritoneal Ovarian Cancer

I’m 53 been battling for over 3 years now. There are a lot of ups and downs. I’ve had many different therapies. I do not have the BRCA gene. I am getting frustrated and scared. I’m in a clinical trial now but have fluid that keeps building up in my abdomen.

  1. hi. How is your clinical trial going ? I realize you published this post almost 9 months ago. We're just checking in to see if you are up to posting an update. We are here for you. --Julie Salazar, moderator/advocate here at AOC.net

    1. Hi there - i'm Sarah from NZ. i've just been diagnosed with Stage 3C high grade serous ovarian cancer - and i've already been to hospital twice to get my abdomen drained (ascites) - it's so scary. i start chemo this friday which i'm happy to start treatment. absolutely zero symptoms before my belly filled up with fluid and the CT scan showed the cancer.

    2. Dear Pam, I have been staged at III C and share your concerns. I just last week started on my third round of a chemo regime where I will receive infusions three out of four weeks a month X 6mos. This alone opens up concerns for the quality of life. I am coping by taking it a day at a time. I am definitely different in my communication with my Oncologist. I am much more willing to communicate my response to chemo and ask for interventions to make life work during treatment. I would encourage you to let the treatment team know about the "build-up of fluids" in your abdomen. Not sure if this is what is called ascites, which is a diagnostic factor and important to share with your team. I am sending healing thoughts and hope you will continue to seek out support from your AOC team. My Warm Regards, Ellen Reed (AdvancedOvarianCancer.net Community Member).
